The fantastic scene proved a draw to the locals flocking to the scene to take photos and videos.
A clip of the incident shows about ten elephants surrounding their de.ad leader. But some reports claim that as many as 300 gathered nearby.
Researchers have found that elephants, like humans, grieve the de.ad by regularly visiting their gra.ves, ‘kissing’ their bodies with their trunks and swaying back and forth in pa.in.
But while humans often mo.urn their friends and family, elephants mo.urn their best acquaintances’ de.ath, a study by Oxford University found in 2006.
Research shows that these organisms also show compassion for s.ick and d.ying people, making them healthy again.
