Every day, Sheena drove past large stretches of berry fields on her way to work, often noticing bits of litter or an occasional coyote.
One day, something unusual caught her eye—a dark moving object that seemed out of place. Driven by curiosity, Sheena decided to turn back and investigate.
As she carefully walked along the busy road, she stumbled upon a small black dog hiding among the berry bushes, clearly suffering from an injured paw.
Filled with empathy and concern, Sheena approached the dog with a soft voice, hoping to calm the frightened creature. Despite her gentle efforts, the dog—later named Blueberry—bolted away in fear.
Determined not to let Blueberry slip away, Sheena chased after her through the fields, her heart filled with both urgency and concern.
After what felt like forever, Sheena finally managed to get close enough to secure a temporary leash around Blueberry’s neck and safely guide her into the car.
“I was overjoyed,” Sheena recalled, sharing the moment when she knew Blueberry was out of harm’s way. She immediately took Blueberry to RAPS Animal Hospital, where the little dog received urgent care for her injured leg.
Over the next few weeks, Blueberry’s initial fear gradually turned into trust as she began to bond closely with Sheena.
What started as a chance rescue quickly grew into a deep friendship, characterized by joyful moments and shared laughter. “She’s a real character,” Sheena commented, describing Blueberry’s playful and loving behavior.
For Sheena, choosing to stop that day was more than a mere side trip; it was a decision that changed her life, bringing her a devoted and loving friend.
“She’s brought so much happiness into my life,” Sheena said with a smile, reflecting on the chance encounter that led to an inseparable bond. Together, they look forward to every moment, adding warmth and companionship to their shared journey.
