For anyone who works from home, dealing with a cuddly cat can be a charming yet challenging experience. Donna, who manages the Cole and Marmalade family, is familiar with this, as she shares her life with a fluffy blind cat named Archie.
In her cozy home office, Donna dedicates much of her time to crafting candles, making her a candle expert surrounded by a great many cats.

However, the prospect of mixing cuddly cats with candle-making isn’t ideal—unless you’re interested in candles infused with cat fur! While some designers create art from ethically sourced cat whiskers, furry candles might not be on everyone’s wish list.

As you meet Archie, you’ll notice an adorable interaction unfolds as Donna calls his name. But there’s a significant concern: Archie can’t see, which means there’s a danger of him getting too close to the hot candle wax while exploring.
This situation could end poorly if not handled carefully.
With Archie being completely blind, Donna took steps to keep him safe by installing a baby gate. However, the decision wasn’t easy.
Archie is an essential part of Donna’s life, typically by her side all day long. His reaction to the barrier was truly heartbreaking, reminiscent of a scene from a poignant movie with a fitting soundtrack.

“Okay, Archie, I didn’t plan on crying today but whatever,” shared The Blind Cat House, after witnessing Archie pawing at the gate.
Though the sight was touching, Donna was quick to devise a clever solution. She utilized a baby gate equipped with a small pet door, adding an affordable mesh tunnel and tent attached to the gate.
With a scratching post protecting the tunnel’s entrance, Archie is free to scratch to his heart’s content without causing any damage.

With a bit of guidance, Archie learned to navigate through the tunnel to reach a larger bed area. This setup prevents cat fur from mingling with the candle wax, while also allowing Archie to stay close to where Donna is working, without feeling left out.
The tunnel also acts as a cozy retreat for JoJo, another cat friend known affectionately as “the chonky sphinx.” Yet, the compact setup can get a bit crowded, so Donna is considering expanding the space.
This inventive solution may remind some of adjusting workspace arrangements for toddlers while working.

Like any loving pet owner, Donna is willing to go the extra mile to ensure her furry companions feel cherished and secure.
