Nearly a year after being rescued, Vinny Van Gogh is experiencing a life far removed from the struggles of his early days.

This black kitten, merely two to three weeks old when discovered, had already endured a serious ordeal resulting in a significant injury.

It is believed that another animal attacked Vinny, causing damage to his ear. This injury soon became infected. Despite his condition, Vinny’s determination shone through.

Knowing exactly where to take Vinny, he ensured the kitten received the necessary medical attention. From there, Vinny was transferred to a veterinarian for treatment.

Collin, Vinny’s current owner, shared that the kitten underwent two surgeries. The first operation involved removing the damaged ear and ear canal due to the infection. A second surgery was needed to address lingering infection issues.

It was at the veterinarian’s office that Vinny first encountered his future mom, Liz. Captivated by him, Liz felt an immediate connection.

However, after the surgeries, Vinny initially went to a foster home specializing in kittens. The foster mom already had her hands full with very young kittens who needed bottle-feeding, making it difficult to keep up with Vinny’s needs.

Seeing an opportunity, Liz and Collin offered to foster Vinny. Over the six weeks he spent in their care, they watched him recover and thrive, ultimately deciding they couldn’t part with him.

Despite missing an ear, Vinny’s appeal is undeniable. He is a polydactyl cat, which means he has extra toes resembling thumbs—a trait fans find endearing.
