A stray kitten gazed through a patio window, intrigued by the cozy life inside, and decided to give it a shot.

Linda, who frequently visits her family’s cottage near Montreal on weekends, spotted two stray kittens scavenging for food on her patio one day. She started feeding the cats, eventually managing to bring one of them to safety.

However, the brown tabby kitten escaped and could not be found. Two weeks later, when Linda returned to the cottage, the tabby reappeared on the patio, peering curiously through the window.

She had grown taller and slimmer and seemed very hungry.

This kitten was skittish and tended to flee when Linda approached, so Linda opted for a humane trap to rescue her instead of trying to catch her directly. Drawn by the scent of food, the hungry kitten eventually wandered into the trap.

The shy kitten was taken in by Chatons Orphelins Montreal, an animal rescue organization, and was given the name Bouskie. According to the rescue, she was about three months old, severely underweight, infested with parasites, and had tangled fur.

They treated her and combed out the knots from her coat. Although she was apprehensive and timid, she was gentle and kind. “She was very scared, but she let us handle her.

As soon as we petted her, she started purring,” said Celine from Chatons Orphelins Montreal.

At her foster home, Bouskie initially felt bewildered and scared, crawling low to the ground and darting between hiding spots. Her foster mom provided a cardboard box for her to use as a bed, where she felt secure.

“She only emerged to eat and use the litter box when no one was around. She observed everything silently,” her foster mom noted.

Gradually, Bouskie became more comfortable in her new environment, although she was still reluctant to venture far from her safe spots. Her foster mom often wrapped her securely and took her to the couch for TV time, keeping her cozy in her arms.

Rather than trying to escape, Bouskie would watch the other household cats with curiosity as they played throughout the living room.

After a week, Bouskie began exploring her surroundings, sprinting from room to room and inspecting every corner. When introduced to toys, her playful personality emerged, and she became a lively, joyful kitten.

Over time, Bouskie learned to enjoy human companionship and grew bold enough to seek out affection and attention.

“Bit by bit, she’s come out of her shell. She loves engaging with other kittens, following them around, and imitating their actions,” shared her foster mom.

The once-fearful kitten has now blossomed into a happy, sociable young cat, known for her boisterous meows at dinner time.

“She adores her new life and craves love and attention. Bouskie had never encountered humans before coming to us, and now she purrs as soon as she’s held.”
