Two small black and tan puppies were left in heartbreaking conditions, abandoned in a dumpster next to trash bags and an old watermelon. They were nearly indistinguishable from the surrounding debris.
However, their plight caught the attention of a compassionate individual who quickly informed environmental officials in Spartanburg, South Carolina, prompting immediate action.
Shortly afterward, the Greenville Humane Society received an urgent call about rescuing the puppies.

“We received a call asking if we would be willing to take them,” said Rachel Delport, the CEO of Greenville Humane Society, in a conversation with The Dodo. “And of course, we said yes.”
Delport expressed her dismay over the treatment of animals in such dire circumstances. “It’s heartbreaking to see people who don’t take the required efforts to treat animals the way they need to be treated,” she stated.

The puppies, later named Dash and Dina, soon found comfort and care at the humane society. With attentive and loving caretakers, their personalities began to emerge; they became lively and were eager for attention.
“Once they came here, they were quite ready for some cuddles,” Delport shared. “They received loads of toys and attention.”

The Greenville Humane Society ensured that Dash and Dina received everything needed to become perfect candidates for adoption, even organizing a special photo shoot for them to capture their charm.
Now, Dash and Dina are on the lookout for a loving family to call their own. Delport is optimistic about their future. “There’s been a lot of curiosity, a lot of people contacting asking how they are doing,” she noted.
“The community is rooting for them and wants the best for them.”
