Two volunteers from Diasozo Animal Rescue (DAR) were out feeding stray animals in a village when they stumbled upon a distressing sight.
Lying on the grass was a severely injured dog, barely able to move, with a gruesome wound where one of her eyes should have been.

The rescuers were shocked by the cruelty of the situation, wondering who could harm a defenseless animal in such a way.
In a near-unconscious state, the dog was gently lifted into the rescuers’ vehicle. As seen in a video shared by DAR, one of the rescuers expressed profound disbelief at the deliberate harm inflicted on the animal, noting the deterioration of her left eye.
It was evident that these were no accidental injuries.
Upon examination by a veterinarian, it became apparent that the dog had suffered more than just eye damage. She also had an old jaw fracture and a rope tightly wound around her chest, indicating intentional abuse.
Emergency surgery was needed, but due to her weakened condition, it had to be postponed. Pain relief was administered to help her rest and gather strength for the operation.
The veterinary team nourished and hydrated the frail dog, assisting her to recover the necessary energy for surgery. A few days later, once she was stronger, the vet successfully removed the damaged eye and treated the surrounding area.
As her eye socket began to heal, her condition improved significantly.
After a period of rest, the dog’s resilience shone through. She stood up and appeared to express gratitude to her caregivers. With her spirits lifted, she was ready to transition to a rehabilitation facility and eventually a foster home.
Thanks to the dedicated care she received, her recovery progressed faster than anticipated. This swift improvement paved the way for her adoption.
A compassionate family, touched by her story and spirit, stepped forward to welcome her into their home. They affectionately named her Honey.
