If you’re a dog owner with a demanding job, you’ve likely wondered what your furry friend is up to when you’re not at home.
Do they spend their time sleeping, playing, or gazing dramatically out the window? Or are they getting up to antics that might earn you a note from a neighbor?
Bianca Lopez from New York can relate all too well. She returned home one day to find a bright pink Post-it note attached to her door.
Martini, her lively Dachshund, had apparently been causing a bit of a ruckus while Bianca was out, and the neighbor wanted to talk about it.

The note, both friendly and firm, revealed that Martini had been quite noisy during Bianca’s absence, asking for her to address the issue.
The message read, “Hi, your dog barks pretty constantly when you’re gone. Would appreciate your attention to training/finding a solution. Thank you!”
This note caused Bianca some anxiety, so she reviewed footage from her pet cam to get to the bottom of the situation.
The video, which she later shared on Martini’s TikTok account with the caption “None of it’s true,” clearly showed Martini barking often while perched comfortably on the couch. Yet, when Bianca returned, Martini acted like an innocent pup, seemingly unaware of any mischief.

The TikTok clip quickly gained popularity, amassing thousands of views as viewers rushed to “defend Martini’s honor” in the comments section.
One viewer joked, “He wasn’t even barking. He’s clearly just singing. Some nerve of your neighbors. He’s home alone. Of course, he’s going to have his own lil concert to pass time.”
Another humorous commenter shared, “We had a note on our door that said your dog barks when the leaves on the tree move slightly.”

Fortunately, Martini’s behavior has improved significantly since that note. Bianca clarified that Martini was only three months old at the time, still learning how to handle being alone for extended periods. Now, as a more mature dog, she mostly keeps her barking in check.
“The note was left when she was 3 months old and adjusting. She’s a grown girl now. Sure she has a bark slip now and then but she’s a dog—she’s pretty quiet for the most part and the best girl,” Bianca explained.
Today, Martini is thriving and much more at ease when left home by herself, living her best life as a confident and well-mannered dog.
