Joey Tuccio from Los Angeles, California, epitomizes such dedication. With countless rescues to his name, Joey’s latest mission involved a distressed mama dog and her starving puppies. This pit bull had been living on the streets for two years, and her condition reflected her hardship. Joey discovered her infected nipples prevented her from nursing her puppies, leaving them malnourished.

Realizing the urgency, Joey and fellow rescuers from Starts With One Today swiftly intervened, transporting the dog to a veterinarian. The medical team promptly treated her, though her spirits remained low. Upon her discharge, Joey was optimistic about her recovery.
Joey, a seasoned rescuer of ten years, has saved nearly two hundred dogs, with this latest case marking the 200th milestone. Lena, as she was named, started thriving post-rescue. She spent heartfelt moments with her puppies and found joy with her caretakers. All of Lena’s puppies landed in loving homes, bringing immense joy to Joey.

The final task remained—finding a permanent home for Lena. In an interview with The Dodo, Joey expressed optimism: “Given everything she’s endured, she still has so much love for people. She’s smart and adorable. Her ideal home would be with someone who is patient, and she’ll return that with love and snuggles.”
With this latest rescue, Joey reinforced his commitment to helping animals in need, showcasing his unwavering dedication and compassion.
