Finding abandoned puppies in dire circumstances is a heartbreaking reality, stirring deep empathy each time such incidents are discovered. Our minds are flooded with questions: why would anyone leave a defenseless animal in isolation, struggling to survive? These thoughts arise whenever we encounter such poignant tales of animal abandonment.
A recent case in Houston, Texas, exemplifies this distressing situation. A compassionate woman was alerted to a puppy left near a dumpster, and upon seeing the pup, later named Tully, motionless in a cardboard box, she acted swiftly.

Samantha Dix, founder of Street Life To The Sweet Life in Houston, has dedicated her life to rescuing animals in need. Discovering Tully teetering on the edge of survival, she immediately took action.
Tully, enclosed within a meager cardboard box, appeared weak and was clearly deprived of food and water for an unknown duration. Severely sick and malnourished, she was at a grave risk. Without hesitation, Samantha picked up the frail puppy and took her to an emergency animal hospital.
“This critical puppy is being rushed to Vergi ER in Houston. It’s still alive and we hope we found this baby in time. This puppy will need immediate hospitalization and likely blood transfusions,” stated Street Life To The Sweet Life on Facebook.

Thanks to the devoted veterinary team, Tully received prompt medical care. Fortunately, the tests showed she was negative for heartworms, placing her out of immediate danger. However, with parasites present, she required constant attention for a few days.
Samantha was profoundly grateful for the timely intervention that saved Tully’s life, and was amazed by her rapid recovery.
“All Tully needed was some care, and she turned into the sweetest lovebug,” commented Samantha on Instagram, marveling at Tully’s resilience. “Tully did it! She survived a heavy parasite load. She is heading home to her foster mom now.”

The most heartwarming update on Tully came weeks later: the puppy found a forever home. After recovering in a nurturing foster home, Tully was adopted by a woman in Wisconsin.
“Tully was adopted today in Wisconsin,” Samantha shared alongside a photo of Tully with her new mom.
In a joyful twist of fate, Tully and her adoptive owner formed an instant bond, embarking on a beautiful new journey together. Today, Tully leads a joyful life, finally secure from the uncertainties of her past.
