In a stunning display of nature’s raw power, visitors were left in awe as they witnessed a cheetah chasing down an impala right into the confines of a BMW at the Gasanftombi junction near Crocodile Bridge on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
Petrus de Kock, one of the fortunate witnesses, shared the mesmerizing experience. Initially, the cheetah’s behavior seemed perplexing as it lay down, seemingly inviting its cubs to play.

Suddenly, one of the cubs approached an unsuspecting impala, only to be called back by the mother. With a swift slap, she signaled her cubs to stay put and observe as she prepared for the hunt.
Before the chase ensued, over 50 impalas roamed the vicinity, oblivious to the impending danger. Undeterred by the presence of vehicles, the seasoned cheetah meticulously selected her target, demonstrating exceptional hunting prowess.
The cubs remained 150 meters away, concealed from the impalas’ view. Despite the best efforts of white herons to warn them, the unsuspecting prey continued grazing, unaware of the imminent threat.
Hardus, another witness, recounted the adrenaline-filled moment when the cheetah pursued the Impala, leading it straight into a nearby BMW, just meters away from their vehicle.
The astonishing spectacle culminated as the cheetah claimed its kill and transported it to its waiting cubs.
This remarkable encounter serves as a vivid reminder of the African wilderness’s untamed beauty and primal instincts, leaving spectators both humbled and exhilarated by the raw spectacle of life and death.
