Husky Forms Unlikely Friendship with Duck After Losing Companion

Last Update:

Max, a lovable pup, found himself in the care of Patrick and Kirsten Riley from Strout, Minnesota, at the tender age of five.

His companion was Sasha, a husky with whom he shared a close bond. However, when Sasha passed away, Max had a void in his heart.

In an unexpected turn of events, Max’s loneliness was soon alleviated by the arrival of Quackers, a charming duck adopted by the Rileys. Almost instantly, Max and Quackers formed a special connection.

Patrick Riley told WCCO-TV, “Max would sit next to his pen all the time, and they bonded that way.

After we let him out, they never left each other’s side.” Kirsten added, “They sleep together, eat together, drink together, go for walks together. Everything is together.”

Their companionship blossomed into something genuinely heartwarming, captivating the attention of passersby along Highway 28, where the pair often spends their time.

Despite the small size of Strout, with only 25 residents, Max and Quackers have become local celebrities.

Neighbor Alisa Godejahn expressed her delight, saying, “Sometimes, on my way home, I hope they’re out there because they’re just too precious to look at.

We see people stopping over there all the time. The traffic gets clogged up over there sometimes because of all the pictures getting taken.”
