Speaking to Vogue for their March 2022 issue, she expressed her desire to create a brand that reflects her identity, moving away from merely representing luxury brands.

Teaming up with her longtime beauty executive, Kate Foster, Johansson unveiled The Outset’s Instagram page and website alongside the release of Vogue’s issue.
With nearly 30,000 followers, including her husband, Colin Jost, the brand has garnered significant attention even before its official launch.
Amidst the excitement, Colin Jost humorously commented on a post, jokingly inquiring about contacting Johansson and hinting at his skincare venture.

Despite the jest, fans eagerly anticipate The Outset, drawn to its focus on essential skincare, minimalist philosophy, and uncomplicated routines.
Collaborating with The Najafi Companies, a private investment firm, Johansson’s brand has received total funding, joining the league of successful celebrity beauty brands like Pattern Beauty by Tracee Ellis Ross and Moon Oral Care.
