Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie, two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, found common ground while working together on the upcoming film “Maude v Maude.” Despite a rocky start, they grew closer by discussing their shared experiences of divorce and relationships with their exes.
Berry, 57, opened up about their new friendship in an interview with Variety. Although she didn’t reveal much about their conversations, she mentioned that they bonded while discussing their past marriages and relationships.
Berry has been married three times, with her most recent marriage ending in divorce from actor Olivier Martinez in 2015. She shares a 10-year-old son, Maceo, with him and also co-parents a 15-year-old daughter, Nahla, with her ex Gabriel Aubry.
Similarly, Jolie, known for her role in “Maleficent,” has faced turmoil in her share of relationships. She is currently in a custody battle with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, with whom she shares six children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
Jolie and Pitt were married from 2014 to 2016 but had been together for 12 years. The bond between Berry and Jolie developed over time, with Berry believing their “rocky start” would ultimately strengthen their partnership as co-stars and co-producers of “Maude v Maude.”
Berry expressed her excitement about working with Jolie, describing her as “formidable.” The upcoming film blends “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “Mission: Impossible,” with Berry eager to create a story from their unique perspectives.
Jolie recently hinted at her potential retirement from Hollywood, citing it as an unhealthy environment. In a separate interview, she mentioned her kids are her “closest” friends as they all continue to heal from the effects of her and Pitt’s breakup.
