Angelina Jolie has reconciled with her estranged father, Jon Voight, thanks to efforts by her ex-husband, Brad Pitt. This renewed bond was evident during a rare family outing in Beverly Hills.
Angelina and Jon were seen having dinner with four of her six children – Pax, Zahara, Vivienne, and Knox – at a sushi restaurant on Wednesday.
Angelina, dressed in a flowing black skirt and scoop neck bodysuit, arrived with her children from their luxury vehicle.
Vivienne carried a stuffed animal, and her twin brother Knox walked alongside her. Notably absent were Shiloh and Maddox.
Dressed in a shirt and jacket, Jon Voight joined the family group. The 78-year-old’s appearances with his grandchildren remain infrequent following a lengthy estrangement from Angelina.
Jon’s split from Angelina’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, when Angelina was an infant led to sporadic contact during her childhood.
Angelina initially used her full name, Angelina Jolie Voight, in her early career but dropped the Voight by the time she starred as Lara Croft.
The rift deepened in 2002 when Voight publicly claimed Angelina had “serious mental problems” shortly after she adopted her first child, Maddox.
Angelina responded by legally dropping Voight from her name and cutting off contact, citing concerns about her new role as a mother.
Despite multiple attempts by Voight to reconnect, especially after Bertrand died in 2007, it wasn’t until 2009, with Brad Pitt’s encouragement, that Angelina reached out. They were first seen together publicly in 2010 on the “The Tourist” set in Venice, Italy.
Following Angelina’s separation from Pitt in late 2016, Voight expressed his support and aimed to be more present in her and his grandchildren’s lives.
As Angelina navigates life as a single mother, it appears she has formed a stronger relationship with the father from whom she once distanced herself.
