Angelina Jolie stars on the cover of Vogue Japan’s July 2024 issue, captured by renowned fashion photographer Takuya Uchiyama. The styling was overseen by Yoko Miyak, with prop styling from Takashi Imayoshi and production by HK Productions.
The beauty team included hair stylist Massimo Serini, makeup artist Yuka Washizu, and manicurist Naoko Takano. Jolie, celebrated for her roles as an actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian, recently ventured into sustainable fashion with the launch of Atelier Jolie in New York.

This new project aligns with Japanese cultural values, making her the perfect feature for Vogue Japan. The magazine invited Jolie on a customized tour of Tokyo, Osaka, and other cities, where she explored the blend of tradition and modern innovation.
During her trip, Jolie met numerous artisans who preserve centuries-old techniques. Despite language barriers, she connected deeply with these craftsmen, sharing a mutual respect for their skills.

The Japanese concept of mottainai, which stresses the importance of minimizing waste and respecting resources, resonated with Jolie. This philosophy is central to her New York store, where vintage fabrics and deadstock materials are given new life, fostering creativity among visitors.
In an interview with Tiffany Godoy, Head of Editorial Content at Vogue Japan, Jolie spoke about how her experiences in Japan have influenced her.
She discussed her transition from a global celebrity to an advocate for artisans, highlighting how traditional practices can counter the rampant consumerism seen in Western culture.

Jolie’s commitment to authenticity, rooted in her punk origins, is evident at Atelier Jolie. She describes the store as a communal space for established and emerging artists to inspire and collaborate.
Despite her international fame, Jolie prioritizes her creative and charitable pursuits over Hollywood’s glitz. Her dedication to humanitarian causes remains strong, focusing on supporting local and refugee-led initiatives.
