The incident occurred in the middle of the enclosure where Wan Mai and several other Asian elephants live. While a broken pipe might concern the staff, Wan Mai saw it as an exciting new plaything.

Footage captured Wan Mai’s immediate and enthusiastic reaction. She dashed into the center of the enclosure, where water was shooting up like a geyser. She let the water cascade over her, ran circles around it, and splashed in the growing puddle.

Not content with running through the water, Wan Mai stood directly over the geyser, letting the water hit her underside and face, relishing the experience.

As she reveled in her water play, the other elephants watched on, seemingly bemused by her excitement.

After thoroughly enjoying the impromptu shower, Wan Mai eventually rejoined the herd, having had the time of her life.
