A rescued Syrian brown bear named Leo is stealing hearts with puppy-like behavior when interacting with his human caretaker.
Despite being perceived as dangerous and unpredictable creatures, these colossal animals can be surprisingly gentle, and Leo is a prime example!
The 24-year-old bear resides at the Orphaned Wildlife Center in Otisville, New York, a haven for orphaned bears that provides them the love and comfort they’ve been missing.

Leo, in particular, adores his bedtime routine, including belly rubs from his dedicated caretakers.
The sanctuary, founded by Jim Kowalczik and his wife Susan in 1990, has helped rehabilitate dozens of bears over the years.
Some bears, however, remain at the center because they would not survive in the wild. Fortunately, Jim, Susan, and Kerry Clair, who also assists in managing the facility, ensure that these gentle giants receive all the care and love they need.
The center’s four permanent residents, including two Kodiak bears and two Syrian brown bears like Leo, not only get belly rubs before bedtime but are sometimes even accompanied by Jim to help them feel more at ease.
People like Jim, Susan, and Kerry consistently go above and beyond for these animals and are the true heroes our world needs!
