One morning, Sumer Walser Williams and her spouse were awakened by an unexpected yet charming guest at their North Carolina residence.
To their surprise, they discovered the most endearing Peeping Tom.
Williams recalled hearing noises outside their bedroom window facing their front deck. When she turned on the front deck lights, she found a bear cub standing at their front door.

The couple watched in awe as the inquisitive cub stood on its hind legs and peered through their window. Far from being upset about their early morning disturbance, they were overjoyed by the encounter.
“We thought, ‘This is completely amazing,'” said Williams.
However, not everyone shared the couple’s excitement.
Moments later, the cub’s mother climbed onto the deck and caught her little one doing something she deemed unacceptable.
As a mother of two young children, Williams could easily relate to the bear mom’s reaction to her mischievous offspring. She noted that the incident showed how some aspects of parenting are universal across species.
Williams believes the bear’s mom might have said, “I’ve told you countless times not to bother people.”
The bear family eventually retreated into the night, leaving an unforgettable memory for Williams and her husband.
While the cub likely learned to maintain a safe distance from humans, Williams felt the encounter served as a reminder that “we are as many guests in their homes as they are in ours.”
