An adorable baby elephant was caught on camera frolicking in the mud as it struggled to get up.
Michelle Broadhurst captured the footage while on a safari through Kruger National Park, South Africa.
In the video, the mud-covered mammal can be seen lying on its side as it splashes in the brown mud.
Two adult elephants were loitering nearby as the young rocks back and forth vigorously.
It seemed to be trying to gain momentum to get up as its trunk whirled around wildly.
Eventually, the calf can roll itself forward to lie still on all fours and face down on the ground.
It keeps dragging itself around for a while longer, which is where the video ends.
Michelle originally recorded the footage in August, but the clip has recently resurfaced online.
Speaking of the eerie sight, she said: ‘Honestly, it looked like he was trying to sit up.
‘Elephants kick their legs forwards and backwards so they can gain momentum from a lying position.
“They are adorable.”
According to data from 2015, there are at least 17,100 elephants living in Kruger National Park.
Elephants are the largest land mammal in the world and can weigh up to seven tons and reach a height of more than three meters at the shoulder.
They can live up to 70 years old.
