Kham Lha was rescued from the tourism industry, and during her rehabilitation at the sanctuary, she became close with Darrick, a dedicated park staff member.
Darrick showed compassion to Kham Lha and the entire group of elephants, which helped them adjust to their new life at the park.
According to Lek Chailert, founder of the Elephant Nature Park, Darrick’s kindness was evident initially, earning him the trust and acceptance of the elephants.
“Right from the start, he showed love and kindness to their group. It didn’t take long for them to reciprocate and accept him in return,” Chailert explained.
This special bond between Kham Lha and Darrick is captured in a touching video shared by Chailert. When Darrick calls out in the clip, Kham Lha comes running, full of enthusiasm and joy.
The sight of the baby elephant eagerly rushing to her caretaker like an excited puppy is heartwarming and shows the deep bond they’ve developed.
The video and several others online demonstrate the incredible relationships that can form when humans show kindness and compassion to elephants. It’s a testament to the power of love and how it can foster extraordinary connections, even between species.
