James Haven, the brother of Angelina Jolie, has opened up about his role in his sister’s life and her children’s lives following her split from Brad Pitt.
In a recent “90who10” podcast interview, he discussed how his relationship with Jolie evolved over time and the significance of his bond with her children.

“It started with the protection of her and then of her children, my nieces and nephews,” Haven shared in the interview. Host Jessica Entner remarked on his involvement, noting that he seemed to play a significant role in the lives of Jolie’s children.
Haven, 52, replied, “Those are massively formative years; they’re becoming young adults in their early 20s… I think it’s just very natural [to feel protective]. I just want to be there.”

Haven is also an actor, though his acting career has been relatively quiet since 2013. He’s more widely known for sharing a brief kiss on the lips with Jolie during the 2000 Oscars, a moment that caused quite a stir.
He defended the incident by stating that it was a simple and loving gesture devoid of any inappropriate context.
Jolie and Pitt were married from 2014 to 2019. Their split was public and contentious, with a prolonged custody battle and disputes over their own French vineyard.

Despite the turmoil, Haven emphasized the importance of being there for his sister and her children.
Whenever he spends time with Jolie’s kids, Haven ensures his full attention by turning off his phone. This approach is inspired by his mother, who, he says, always prioritized family over distractions.
Angelina Jolie’s children are Maddox, 22; Pax, 20; Zahara, 18; Shiloh, 17; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15. Despite his relative absence from the spotlight, Haven remains a constant presence in their lives, committed to supporting his family and providing a stabilizing influence.
