A baby elephant, still figuring out how to walk, was captured in heartwarming photos as it struggled to keep up with its herd.

The young elephant, estimated to be less than a month old, is seen attempting to walk alongside older members of its group.

Wildlife photographer Leighton Lum, 33, from Aiea, Hawaii, took these remarkable photos at Kenya’s Ambolseli National Park.

Leighton shared his thoughts on the experience: “This little elephant was much smaller than its siblings, and my guide confirmed it was likely less than a month old. Watching it learn from the adults, like blowing dirt to uncover grass, was fascinating.”

The baby elephant’s exhaustion was evident after a long day of walking and foraging with the herd. “They don’t have the stamina or strength to keep pace with the adults, so after a full day, this little one was completely worn out,” Leighton explained.

“It’s hard not to get attached to animals like this; it was adorable and an amazing experience to document,” he added.
