A young Bulldog named Batty faced a challenging start to life when he was abandoned at the Sacramento SPCA, covered in filth and neglected.
His previous owner claimed they couldn’t handle the five-month-old puppy, but staff members were skeptical of the backstory.
It seemed Batty might have been the outcome of unsuccessful breeding, with the breeder likely discarding him due to his blindness, which wasn’t seen as profitable.
Upon arrival at the shelter, workers noticed Batty had a significant abscess on his chin, which they promptly treated.
As they provided him with care and affection, Batty transformed into a gentle and amiable pup, showing he was well-deserving of a loving home.
The shelter’s veterinarian determined his blindness resulted from a rare congenital defect, making adoption prospects seem dim since many were deterred by his permanent condition.
Yet Batty remained blissfully unaware of his situation, spending joyful days at the shelter playing with another disabled companion, Bueller.
However, when Bueller found a forever home, it became evident that Batty needed help finding his own family.
Determined to ensure a happy future for Batty, the shelter staff took to social media, sharing his heartwarming story and urging someone to adopt him.
Their efforts paid off when Cassidy Kraus and Brett Weyers from Wisconsin learned about Batty. The couple, already caring for a blind dog named Soto, felt an immediate connection and decided he would be the perfect addition to their family.
Cassidy, Brett, Soto, and their children embarked on a cross-country trip, traveling 33 hours to meet Batty in Sacramento. The meeting was emotional, and Batty was ecstatic to greet his new family.
He was especially thrilled to meet his new big brother, Soto, who resembled him greatly.
Renamed Ago, Batty has embraced his new life with boundless joy and love, shining brightly despite his early hardships.
Ago now relishes being the center of attention in his affectionate home, bringing warmth and happiness to his family. His uplifting spirit and resilience have made his family’s life truly complete.
