Since his turbulent divorce from Angelina Jolie in 2016, Brad Pitt’s relationships with some of his children have severely deteriorated.
Pitt’s estrangement from his older children—Maddox (22), Pax (20), and Zahara (18)—has been particularly distressing. His ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, retains primary custody of their 17-year-old daughter, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.
According to a source, Pitt has endured significant “character assassinations” and feels alienated from his children following the divorce.
The conflict stems from an incident on a flight from France to the U.S. where Pitt allegedly became angry while intoxicated and got physical with Jolie and two of their children. Accusations include Pitt grabbing and shaking Jolie, “choking” one child, and slapping another.
Jolie filed for divorce shortly after the incident in September 2016, but Pitt denies allegations of abuse. A source close to Pitt defended him, admitting that he mishandled a “parent-child argument,” causing the situation to escalate. However, the source emphasized, “it did not reach the level of physical abuse. No one was physically harmed.”
The source further stated, “He did not hit his child in the face in any way. He put his hands on him, yes, because the confrontation was spiraling out of control.”
Despite this defense, Pitt’s son Pax expressed his disdain in a harsh 2019 Instagram post, calling his father a “terrible and despicable person” and criticizing him for lacking empathy towards his younger children.
Meanwhile, Jolie feels frustrated by her portrayal as the antagonist in the high-profile divorce. A source close to her claimed, “She is livid over being painted as the bad guy while Brad is portrayed as the victim.
Even with all the facts, their peers are siding with him. It makes her sick that people in Hollywood can be such hypocrites.”
Jolie, who has limited ties to Hollywood, reportedly plans to move to Cambodia once her children are of legal age, preferring to continue her humanitarian work there.
