Brave Dog Rescues Patients from Raging Hospice Fire, Sustains Severe Injuries

In a heartwarming tale of bravery, a courageous dog named Matilda risked her life to save four patients from a devastating fire at a hospice in Russia.

Despite being pregnant then, Matilda dashed into the inferno, raising the alarm and ensuring the safety of those inside.

Matilda, a mixed-breed dog, emerged as a hero after alerting others to the fire, but she suffered severe burns and was found unconscious due to the carbon monoxide fumes.

Fortunately, firefighters arrived in time to rescue the hospice residents. Still, Matilda’s rescue required the intervention of volunteers Alexander Tsinkevich and Elena Kalinina, who pulled her to safety amidst the flames.

Despite enduring excruciating pain, Matilda remained resilient, with reports describing her as trembling and crying as she heroically endured the ordeal.

The fire inflicted severe burns on her face, neck, and abdomen, causing significant damage to her fur and nose.

However, amidst the tragedy, a glimmer of hope emerged as Matilda’s puppies were found to be alive and thriving despite their mother’s injuries.

The community in St Petersburg has rallied behind Matilda, with animal campaigners working tirelessly to ensure her survival and recovery.

However, the road to recovery for Matilda is not without challenges; her injuries are so severe that she may not be able to nurse her puppies due to the extent of the burns on her nipples.
