On August 15, Josh Petit shared an emotional moment on Facebook. He recounted how the floodwaters in Baton Rouge surged dramatically, reaching a height of 2.5 meters within just two hours.
While surveying the flooded area, Petit noticed some movement near a cluster of bushes. As he moved closer, he spotted the faint outline of a dog desperately trying to keep its head above water.
Touched by the dog’s exhaustion and fear, Petit was able to safely rescue the animal. Once on dry land, the relieved dog rested its head on Petit’s knees, clearly expressing its gratitude.

It was discovered that the dog, named Sadie, had run away during the hectic evacuation process.
