A six-year-old dog named Brody is searching for a new home after his owners sadly discovered he couldn’t adjust to life with their newborn baby.
The family’s heartbreaking decision to rehome Brody has devastated them, as they had always intended for him to be part of their expanding family.
According to Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption, Brody was the family’s first pet, and they were not prepared for the challenges that arose after welcoming their baby.
In a Facebook post, they expressed their sorrow: “This is not something they want to do, but it is so clearly not a living situation that can be worked on.” They emphasized that Brody requires a home without small children or other pets.
The shelter did not provide specific reasons for Brody’s inability to adapt to the newborn. Before his time with this family, Brody had endured an abusive past.
He was adopted at one and has since developed a loving personality. Currently in foster care, Brody is described as a “snuggle bug” who enjoys spending time close to his people.
Brody loves playing hide-and-seek with his toys, going for walks, sunbathing in the yard, and assisting his foster mom with her work from home.
While he is particularly attached to his primary caregiver, he also shares a strong bond with other family members.
Brody’s situation is highlighted in contrast to another recent incident involving a woman criticized for abandoning a three-month-old German Shepherd puppy.
Jubree Johnson, 22, admitted to leaving the puppy at a mobile home park in Fresno, California, claiming it had already been abandoned.
After attempting to take the puppy to a closed shelter, Johnson said they released it back to the street after only ten minutes.
Both cases underscore the importance of finding suitable pet homes, especially when family dynamics change.
Brody is now looking for a loving environment where he can thrive without the stresses of living with small children or other pets.
