When Tigger, a dark tabby cat, arrived at Exploits Valley SPCA, she brought her six kittens, all needing a safe place.
The shelter staff provided them a cozy nursery, ensuring Tigger had plenty of food and space to care for her babies. Under their watchful care, the kittens thrived, meeting all their milestones.
While Tigger showed love to all her kittens, the staff quickly noticed her extra attention toward one — Rabbit, the smallest of the litter and the only gray kitten.
Despite being the runt, Rabbit never let her size hold her back. She kept up with her siblings during feeding and playtime, often proving she could hold her own.
Tigger, though just two years old herself, was a devoted mother. She showered her kittens with affection and never-ending baths, but Rabbit always received a bit more of her love. The two were often seen curled up together during naps.
As the kittens grew, becoming playful, independent young cats, Rabbit stayed close to her mom, enjoying the special bond they shared.
When it was time for the kittens to find homes, Tigger proudly showed them to potential adopters. “They are fluffy, friendly, and perfect in every way. Tigger is the most perfect of them all,” the SPCA staff shared.
Soon, families came to adopt each kitten one by one. However, the spotlight was often on the kittens, and adult cats like Tigger were sometimes overlooked.
But a woman named Sheila saw something special in Tigger. After learning about the unique bond between Tigger and Rabbit, she knew they had to stay together.
With her adoption application approved, Sheila prepared for their arrival by setting up matching baskets for the mother and daughter. The next morning, Tigger and Rabbit, now named Puss and Boots, settled into their new home.
The two cats quickly made themselves comfortable, with Tigger finding her favorite spot on a table and Rabbit discovering a cozy perch hidden below. As Rabbit raced around the house, full of energy, Tigger calmly watched over her.
When Rabbit finally tired out, she would curl up next to her mom, and the two would snuggle together.
Sheila shared her joy on Facebook, writing, “They are so entertaining. I could watch them all day.” Thanks to the kindness of many, Puss, Boots, and the rest of the kittens found their forever homes, where they are now living happily.
