Stunning photographs have emerged showcasing a hungry brown bear deftly using its paws to snatch a salmon from the waters of Kurile Lake in Kamchatka, Russia.
The close-up shots capture the bear patiently waiting for the moment before swiftly grabbing its prey.
Photographer Mike Korostelev, 33, ensured safety by capturing these images from a specially designed underwater metal cage, using a pole for shots above water.
Korostelev, an adventure trip organizer and photographer, emphasized the bear’s size, noting it as the largest in the area where the photos were taken.
Throughout the day at Ozernaya River, the bear alternated between fishing and resting on the beach, presenting Korostelev with ample opportunities for these remarkable images.
“There was certainly risk involved,” Korostelev remarked, “but we took precautions to minimize any danger, constructing a cage that allowed for close-up photography while keeping a safe distance.”
