Colin Jost, known for his comedic flair on “Saturday Night Live,” took center stage at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C. on April 27. Amidst the glitz and glamour, he didn’t shy away from poking fun at his marriage to Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson.
Addressing second gentleman Doug Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, Jost quipped, “Doug, as you can tell by all the comments about my wife, I’m also used to being the Second Gentleman.”
He didn’t stop there. Jost later thanked his family and friends for their support, with a special shoutout to Johansson. “I want to thank my wife for enduring lots of jokes and agreeing to meet everyone in this room right after the ceremony individually,” he said, adding, “She hates privacy!”
Injecting humor into the economic landscape, Jost referenced Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” and the rise of online sports gambling and joking, saying, “People keep asking if our lives are better than they were four years ago. Of course, they are! Four years ago, we didn’t have online sports gambling. What more do you need?”
In a poignant moment, Jost shared a heartfelt story about his grandfather, William Kelly, emphasizing his impact on his life. “My grandpa was a firefighter on Staten Island for 40 years… I would not be here today without him,” Jost revealed.
The star-studded event saw appearances from TODAY’s Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie, NBC News’ Lester Holt and Kristen Welker, and other celebrities including Chris Pine, Molly Ringwald, and Rosario Dawson.
Jost and Johansson, who dazzled in a strapless white gown, were photographed together on the red carpet, adding to the glamour of the evening.
