A playful baby elephant named Uli caused some mischief when she tried to grab her human friend’s phone during a playful moment.
The amusing scene unfolded at the Barumun Nagari Wildlife Sanctuary in North Sumatra, Indonesia, where Uli was caught on camera reaching for Wanda’s phone. At the same time, he attempted to send a message.
The curious elephant wrapped her trunk around the device multiple times, clearly intrigued by what was happening.
Despite Uli’s determined effort, Wanda gently resisted her advances, playfully nudging her away after she gave him a little nip on the hand.
Ercie Kandou, one of the sanctuary’s founders, captured the heartwarming moment. “Uli loves to come close after she eats or naps to play with the people she knows,” Kandou shared.
“In this case, she was curious about what was in Wanda’s hand and tried to taste it. When she couldn’t grab the phone, she nibbled his hand to get his attention.”
Uli’s journey to the sanctuary began when she was rescued alongside her mother and several other elephants from a training camp where they were found malnourished and neglected. Now, Uli enjoys her days in the sanctuary, surrounded by those who care for her.
