In Fresno County, California, a remarkable story of a mother dog’s devotion has captured the hearts of many. For weeks, a dog named Betty Boop traveled nearly two miles each day from the town of Fowler in search of food to nourish her ten puppies.
Her dedication did not go unnoticed, eventually coming to the attention of Krystle Woodward, founder of the animal rescue organization Pinky Paws ResQ.

Despite hearing about Betty Boop’s situation two months prior, efforts to rescue her had been unsuccessful until last Thursday. On her lunch break, Krystle finally encountered Betty Boop.
Determined, she enlisted the help of her husband to safely transport the dog to safety. “I was surprised to see Betty Boop during my break. My husband and I managed to save her in the van,” Krystle shared on Facebook.
Previous sightings reported that more than 30 residents had witnessed Betty Boop scouring the outskirts of town for food over the past month or so. Concerned for her well-being, Krystle took Betty Boop to a veterinarian to ensure she was healthy.

The visit confirmed that Betty Boop was nursing her puppies, which filled Krystle with both relief and concern for the pups’ well-being.
The very next day, Friday, Betty Boop made a daring attempt to escape – scaling a fence, evidently determined to reunite with her puppies.
This prompted Krystle to launch an urgent search to locate the pups. With the assistance of a young student, Kenneth Stoen, they discovered the litter in the basement of an abandoned house.

All ten puppies were found healthy, being given names like Amber, Citrine, Copper, Jade, Jasper, Onyx, Opal, Pearl, Rubyloo, and Sage.
Reflecting on the experience, Krystle expressed deep emotion and gratitude at Betty Boop trusting her enough to lead the way to her puppies.
It’s this trust and bond that has made Betty Boop and her puppies’ story so special to those involved in their rescue.
