Their friendship began when Gunner was just an 8-week-old puppy and met Delta at the Florida Dolphin Research Center.

Instead of running and jumping, he observed the dolphins swimming, sparking Delta’s curiosity. Delta, known for her friendly nature, approached Gunner and even brought him toys.
Marie Blanton, Gunner’s owner, recalls their first encounter: “The first time I brought Gunner to the port, I thought he would bark loudly or show excitement when he met the dolphins, but he did the opposite. He lay down and watched, extremely calm. This is what attracted Delta’s attention.” From that moment, a heartwarming friendship began to bloom.
With each visit, Gunner and Delta’s bond grew more assertive. Despite their infrequent meetings, their connection remains unbreakable.
Though Gunner now visits the center only a few times a month, Delta permanently recognizes him, with Delta being the first dolphin to greet him, a testament to the depth of their friendship.
