Diver’s Close Encounter with a Blue Shark: Stunning Photo Captured in the Azores

A remarkable photograph has captured the moment a blue shark approached a diver in the Azores, a group of islands in the Atlantic Ocean near Portugal.

The shot was taken by wildlife photographer Fabrice Guerin, 50, who was diving with his team in search of marine life.

Although blue sharks may appear menacing, Guerin explains they are curious and timid creatures.

The team had initially set out to document sperm whales, but after some time without sight, they decided to head back to the harbor. Their local guide spotted a blue shark, prompting the team to return to the water.

Guerin captured an image of the shark swimming to the surface with a shearwater bird in its jaws. Shortly after, two more blue sharks joined them, swimming around curiously.

During this encounter, Guerin managed to snap the photo of a blue shark following his fellow diver, which he described as a humorous moment.

The wildlife photographer expressed his gratitude for the experience, noting that the blue shark, whose sleek shape, large eyes, and elongated snout, resembled a cartoon character. These sharks are honest and vulnerable creatures despite their shy and curious nature.
