Elephant’s Unique Defense: A Playful Water Spray at a Nearby Buffalo

Last Update:

A protective elephant took matters into its trunk when a buffalo bull wandered too close to its family at a watering hole in South Africa’s Kruger National Park.

While enjoying downtime with its herd near a small pool, the elephant became visibly annoyed as the bull approached.

Attempting to ward it off, the elephant used its trunk to spray water at the bull, though the effort fell short of its mark.

Unfazed by the gesture, the buffalo continued drinking undisturbed. The undeterred elephant appeared to size up the bull, signaling its displeasure.

These striking moments were captured in Kruger National Park, a sanctuary established in 1898 to safeguard South Africa’s wildlife.

The park is home to a remarkable variety of species, including 147 mammals, 507 birds, 114 reptiles, and 34 amphibians, according to its official website.
