It is a heart-wrenching moment when a mother elephant tries to pull her baby from a well and be with the calf for 11 hours.
The mother resolutely refuses to leave her calf, first using the trunk and then the legs to try to pull her precious baby to safety.
Unfortunately, the frantic mother elephant made matters worse by accidentally pushing more mud into the well and nearly kil.ling the baby elephant, which was stuck from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Fortunately, the tiny elephant was finally freed when people living near Chatra district, India, where the incident happened, rushed to the scene after hearing the distressed cry.
The kind villagers stopped the mother and used the time to remove some of the soil, preventing her from grabbing the calf.
Jitendra Tiwari, who recorded the video and rescued aides, said: “We cut a couple of banana trucks and put it near the well for the elephant to move for a while.”
“The plan was a success, and we took the time to remove the sand that was deposited near the well, which made it difficult for her to rescue the baby.”
The mother then wrapped her trunk tightly around the baby’s slippery, muddy body and pulled the baby out.
After that, the duo is seen entwined and happily walking side by side as they continue their journey.
