This is the moment a woun.ded elephant asked people for help after being sh.ot by poach.ers.
The bull elephant named Ben surprised the guests as he approached the Bumi Hills Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe.
However, manager Nick Milne soon discovered that the animal was limping and appeared to be badly in.jured.
The in-house vet was gone for the weekend, so someone else was called and volunteered to fly 200 miles to help the elephant.
In the six hours it took until his arrival, Ben is said to have waited patiently early, drank water, and grazed
Experts reassured him and, after further investigation, found a deep woun.d in his shoulder, presumably due to a bull.et from a poach.er.
To their hor.ror, they also found two bull.et holes in one of his ears, which made it likely that the animal had survived two attempts in his life.
Ben is now healing on the property after having dis.infected and treated his woun.ds by the vet.
The animal wears a tracking device so that experts can monitor its improvement.
