At 20 years old, Tessa remains a fiercely loyal companion, especially when it comes to her beloved toy banana.
This terrier mix not only cherishes her time with her owner, but also values her stuffed banana, which she makes sure everyone else recognizes as special.
Years ago, after Tessa’s favorite toy was accidentally damaged by another dog, her owner, Shanna Loren, discovered the unique banana toy in an unexpected place—a pet store trash bin.

Loren recounted to The Dodo, “I knew it was the perfect size for her, and as soon as I handed it to her, she accepted it immediately.”
Whenever guests drop by, Tessa takes great pride in showing off her treasured banana, ensuring each visitor appreciates its importance before she carefully places it in what she considers to be the coziest spot.
Despite her age and hearing loss, Tessa’s affection for her toy never wavers. “We’ve gotten into the habit of encouraging our guests to acknowledge her banana so she can settle down,” Loren shared.

“It’s amusing how now that she’s hard of hearing, our friends have to raise their voices, saying, ‘I love your bananas, Tessa!'”
For Tessa, age is no barrier to finding comfort with her cherished plush toy. Loren notes, “She doesn’t see it merely as a toy. It’s her one small possession, and it means the world to her.”
