A prime example of this breed bias is Rocky, a pit bull who lingered far too long at the McDonough Rescue shelter in California. Despite being a gentle soul, Rocky struggled to find a family willing to adopt him.
Among Rocky’s supporters was Kelsey, a dedicated rescuer who tirelessly sought a loving home for him. Unfortunately, time was running out.
Other rescuers warned Kelsey that Rocky was nearing the red list, a list for dogs facing euthanasia if they remain unadopted. This was a harsh potential outcome for a dog who had done nothing wrong.
