From Neglect to Hope: The Remarkable Transformation of Sang Su the Rescue Dog

Published on

Sang Su, a small dog, was discovered in dire condition, wandering alone on the streets. His fur had grown so tangled and matted that identifying his breed was nearly impossible, signaling a long history of neglect.

Recognizing the extensive care Sang Su needed, a local shelter reached out to the Trio Animal Foundation. This organization is renowned for assisting extremely challenging rescue cases and was seen as Sang Su’s best hope for rehabilitation.

With the Foundation’s expertise and resources, there was renewed hope for a brighter future for the little dog.

Though the Foundation specializes in rescues of severely neglected animals, even they were shocked by the extent of Sang Su’s neglect.

Sue Naiden, head of the Foundation, described his fur as being twisted tightly around his body, resulting in a foul odor from urine-soaked strands. Nonetheless, the team was determined to help Sang Su recover.

An immediate and critical grooming session was arranged, and it took four members of the medical team two hours to carefully remove almost three pounds of matted fur from Sang Su.

It was as if he had been given a new lease on life, filled with hope and the possibility of love and kindness.

Initially, Naiden speculated that Sang Su might be a mix of Shih Tzu, poodle, or Lhasa Apso. However, once his true features emerged, she was surprised at his actual breed.

“In my 20 years of rescue work, I’ve never been so wrong about a dog’s breed beneath such thick mats,” Naiden confessed.

After the grooming, Sang Su experienced newfound freedom. He could see clearly and move with ease, extending his legs to run around freely. Beyond the physical changes, Sang Su also began to crave human touch.

Still wary, he desired companionship and affection. Naiden noted, “His legs tremble, but all he wants is to be close and feel a gentle stroke,” underscoring that this connection is crucial for his recovery and trust.

While Sang Su’s journey has been impressive, he still battles ear infections needing ongoing treatment and is slowly improving his social interactions with other dogs.

His inspiring recovery story is a testament to the power of care and dedication, and there is hope for even better days ahead.

The organization continues to seek assistance to cover his recovery expenses, but Naiden emphasizes that witnessing the profound impact of love and care makes every effort worthwhile.

“His transformation is nothing short of astounding,” she reflected on his remarkable journey.
