Welcoming a puppy into your home is a moment filled with happiness and excitement. These tiny bundles of fur quickly grow, often becoming larger-than-life companions.
Arielle Garber, hailing from Pennsylvania, experienced this transformation firsthand.
Arielle adopted Milo, a mix between a St. Bernard and a Bernese Mountain Dog, when he was just a puppy. Unaware of how big Milo would eventually become, Arielle now fully understands the farmer’s warnings about his future size, three years later.
When Arielle and her family moved into a new house, she wanted to gift her children the joy of having a dog. Just three days after settling in, she noticed a Facebook post about puppies up for adoption at a pig farm.
Without hesitation, Arielle visited the farm and quickly fell in love with a particular puppy—Milo—who would soon become her cherished companion.
“Three days into owning my home, I saw a post on FB about pups that needed a home… I immediately got in my car and drove over to this pig farm. Saw Milo, and that second, I said I want him,” Arielle shared on Threads.
Though captivated by Milo, Arielle received a caution from the farmer, which she didn’t grasp fully at the time.
“The pig farmer said to me ‘you do realize how big he’s going to get right?’ Well, I didn’t know I’d have a dog who’s 5’5 on his hind legs and weighs more than me, but here we are,” Arielle added.
Now, at three years old, Milo has grown remarkably large, weighing in at 150 pounds. His size is evident everywhere—be it the house, the car, or the backyard.
Despite his impressive stature, Milo remains a loving and gentle soul. He has become an essential part of the household, winning over his human siblings with his affectionate nature and playful spirit.
“He now officially weighs more than me and doesn’t realize his size, but he’s my best friend,” Arielle said.
From cuddling on the couch to greeting his family with enthusiastic hugs and keeping them company on quiet nights, Milo brings warmth and joy to every aspect of their lives.
While Milo’s imposing size grabs attention, it’s his loving nature that truly endears him to everyone around. From the playful puppy Arielle discovered on a pig farm to the beloved giant he is now, Milo demonstrates that a big heart is what truly counts.
