In the town of Chadara in Lahore, locals initially believed they had come across a pregnant dog.
However, once veterinarians examined video footage of the animal, they realized she was suffering from a condition far more serious than pregnancy, requiring immediate medical intervention.
The dog’s abdomen was alarmingly swollen, a likely result of fluid buildup, possibly due to liver or kidney failure. However, definitive tests were necessary to pinpoint the exact cause of her condition.
This was an emergency as the dog was in significant pain, becoming weaker and more lethargic by the minute. Her rescuers promptly conducted various tests, including X-rays and blood work, while anxiously awaiting the results.
As an immediate response, the veterinary team began removing the excess fluid from her abdomen to provide some relief. They managed to extract a substantial amount—around 10 liters.
As the fluid was withdrawn, the dog’s skeletal structure became more visible, highlighting just how much discomfort she had been in.
Remarkably, once the fluid was drained, the dog began to relax and even drifted off to sleep, enjoying a respite from the months of agony she had endured.
“I’ll stay here at the clinic with her,” one of the veterinarians noted, monitoring her progress as more fluid continued to be collected. The vet promised to provide updates on her condition.
The dog, now affectionately named Fufy by her caregivers, is showing significant improvement and is on the path to recovery.
She has started to play again and is even beginning to form new friendships, gradually leaving behind the trauma of her street life.
Fufy is rediscovering her playful nature, embodying the joy she truly deserves after enduring such hardships.
