Kris was born on July 7 at the zoo’s Mast Farm Breeding Center. Due to the unique challenges of cheetah parenting, where mothers struggle to produce enough milk for a single cub, the zoo’s expert neonatal team stepped in to care for her. Unfortunately, Kris is the sole survivor of her litter, having lost her siblings.

However, everything changes when Remus arrives at the zoo on Thursday. The two quickly began playing together amidst the festive atmosphere of the zoo’s HallZOOween celebration, enjoying pumpkins and rolling around joyfully.

Remus, who was rescued by the zoo through the Animal Rescue Fund, was chosen to play with Kris because of his friendly demeanor and energetic nature.

It’s worth noting that cheetahs are currently classified as endangered. Their global population has drastically decreased from approximately 100,000 in 1900 to an estimated 9,000 to 12,000 today, highlighting the importance of conservation efforts for these magnificent creatures.
