A German zoo is celebrating the arrival of five cheetah cubs, introducing them to the public for the first time today.
The cubs, born on April 28 to mother Malika and father Akido, include two males and three females. They made their debut at Rostock Zoo, where visitors could glimpse the playful cubs.
In a short video, the young cheetahs are venturing outdoors with their mother, exploring their surroundings.
As onlookers watched with cameras, the cubs engaged in playful fights within their enclosure.
One cub even attempted a roar but produced a sound more similar to a bird’s chirp than a fierce predator’s growl.
Rostock Zoo, established in 1899, has housed cheetahs since 1973. It is located on Germany’s east coast and is the region’s largest zoo, home to around 4,500 animals across 320 species. The zoo’s cheetah habitat, opened in 2006, spans nearly 11,000 square feet.
