When Edgar, an unusually large 9-year-old cat, arrived at the Humane Society of Carroll County in Westminster, Maryland, he immediately stole the show with his impressive size.
Standing tall and weighing over 20 pounds, this ginger-and-white feline was hard to miss.
Edgar’s journey to the shelter began when his previous family was unable to keep him due to compatibility issues with their small children. Upon his arrival at the shelter, staff members were amazed by his giant stature.

Charles Brown, the Executive Director of the shelter, described the initial reaction to Edgar’s size: “We were all a bit taken back with his size. He weighed in at 21lbs.”
As with all new arrivals, the shelter quickly devised an adoption plan for Edgar, opting to launch a campaign on social media to help find him a new home. It wasn’t long before Edgar’s photo caught the attention of Jenna Marie on Facebook.
“I first saw his photo circling around Facebook on Tuesday and I was in awe. I’ve never seen a cat like him before and he really caught my eye. He’s beautiful!” Jenna shared with Love Meow.

Inspired by Edgar’s unique charm, Jenna proposed to her boyfriend that they consider adopting him as a companion for their current cat.
He readily agreed, and soon they were on their way to the Humane Society, hoping to meet this gentle giant in person.
The introduction went smoothly, with Edgar warmly greeting Jenna and her boyfriend. “He has the coolest personality. He’s affectionate and very laid back,” Jenna told Love Meow. It was clear they had found the perfect match.

Thanks to the power of social media, it took only a few hours for Edgar to find his new family. Jenna reported to Cat Lovers that Edgar fit right in with their other pets, including a dog and another cat.
“He’s settled right in as if he’s been here for a long time already. We absolutely love him!”
Now in a loving home and surrounded by his new family, Edgar is thriving. His happy ending is a testament to the joy that pets can bring to our lives. If you enjoyed Edgar’s story, be sure to share it with your friends.
