Hero farm animals rescue chicken friend from the hawk in dramatic video

Imagine an extraordinary episode of “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom” – set right in the middle of an idyllic country farm.

Indeed, it was like a page from a surreal children’s storybook as a goat and rooster rushed to rescue their chicken friend when it was attacked by a predatory hawk, as captured in a dramatic new viral video.

Jaap Beets, a farmer in Gelderland, Netherlands, was on his farm on September 5 when he heard noises from his livestock outside.

Farmer Beets, 59, said: “I was so proud of the rooster and the goat that jumped in to protect our chicken. “I’m also very relieved that the chicken survived.”

His CCTV footage showed the moment a goshawk dive-bombed a chicken, plumes of feathers flying through the air. One of the farm’s roosters immediately rushed to rescue the chick, protecting his feathered friend.

The Beets’ goat Bruin also joined the showdown, charging the hawk to scare it away. It turns out that goats – with a reputation for being good artists and discerning yoga practitioners – are actually terrible vigilantes when pushed to their limits.

The dynamic duo eventually saved the chicken, forcing the hawk to fly away empty-taloned just 17 seconds after swooping in.

Bruin the goat swings into action to help his fellow farm fight off a predatory hawk.

The chicken was slightly in.j.ured—but Beets said the other animals on the farm “gathered around her” to heal her back to normal.

Meanwhile, it’s not the first time the Beets farmer has experienced such drama – his other goats and turkeys have jumped to the rescue of his flock twice before.

“In the seven years I’ve lived here, that’s the third time it’s at.tack.ed our chickens,” he said. “This is the second from the goshawk, and the other was the buzzard.”

Beets’ video of the incredible rescue team has now been viewed more than half a million times on social media, according to SWNS.

“However, that goat, what a hero. He deserves a bunch of alfalfa for himself,” one person wrote in the comments.

Other viewers compared it to a classic “Disney adventure”.

“I grew up with a deep respect for nature and have worked in environmental works and nature conservation all my life,” said Beets. “We try to facilitate nature as much as possible.”

The goat rushed to the scene of the a.ttac.k to scare away the hawk.
