In a heartwarming rescue captured on video, fishermen came to aid two young brown bear cubs struggling to stay afloat in a lake.
The dramatic footage shows the terrified cubs placing their trust in the fishermen, who acted swiftly to prevent them from drowning.

Ruslan Lukanin, one of the fishermen involved, explained that the cubs had swum across the lake with their mother. However, the mother bear left them behind when she couldn’t continue, leaving the cubs in peril.
“We picked them up and brought them to the island where their mother had swum,” Lukanin said. “It was risky, but we couldn’t ignore their plight.”

Despite the inherent danger of approaching wild animals, the fishermen used a net to carefully bring the cubs aboard their boats. The men gently reassured the cubs, visibly exhausted and frightened, during the rescue.
“We reassured them, telling them not to fear and that we would save them,” recounted one of the fishermen in the video.
Once on board, the cubs were transported to a nearby island where their mother was waiting, unaware of her offspring’s ordeal. Both cubs visibly weakened from their struggle in the water, required assistance to reach safety.

The rescue highlights the bond between humans and wildlife, showcasing the bravery and compassion of the fishermen who risked their safety to save the bear cubs.
