Spotting a stray dog alone on the streets is sadly a common sight these days. Even more heart-wrenching is witnessing a beautiful white puppy not only homeless but also tied to a pole by the roadside.

Such was the plight of a young white Husky found on the streets of Santa Monica, California. Beyond being perpetually tied up, the puppy also endured daily harassment from some of the local homeless population.

Despite these challenges, the six-month-old pup, named Buckley, remained hopeful and kept his infectious smile, hoping that someone kind would eventually rescue him.

That day came unexpectedly when a local rescuer, passing by, noticed Buckley and was moved by the sight of such a beautiful creature suffering alone. Without hesitation, she sprang into action, and soon Buckley was safely in the care of Love Leo Rescue. The team there was captivated by his resilience and joyful demeanor, a testament to Buckley’s unyielding spirit.

“Buckley is an exceptional dog,” Sasha Abelson, director of Love Leo Rescue, told The Dodo. “He is well balanced and loving and didn’t let his previous experiences change his lovely personality.”

The rescue team lavished Buckley with affection, helping heal both his physical and emotional wounds. In turn, Buckley’s cheerful energy brought joy to the staff and volunteers alike.

Although Buckley quickly became a beloved presence at the rescue center, it wasn’t long before he found a foster home to continue his journey toward healing.

A woman named Angela, upon learning about Buckley’s ordeal in Santa Monica, felt compelled to offer him a temporary home. The connection between her and Buckley was immediate, and he quickly settled into life with his new foster family. For a dog who had maintained a smile even in tough times, this new environment was a dream come true.

“Buckley is a typical, happy-go-lucky husky,” Abelson explained. “He loves playing with his dog friends and learning new skills. He enjoys hiking and cuddling up with people. He is just a perfect family dog.”

Buckley did more than just settle into his new home; he became a source of healing for Angela as well. “Buckley is such a great dog! He is our foster who has helped me in my recovery with PTSD. He needs to be active and needs routine, which turns out is part of what I need too,” Angela shared on Instagram.

However, Buckley’s search for a permanent home continues, where he dreams of experiencing utmost happiness.

“Buckley would love to go into a home that is active and preferably with another playful, balanced dog,” Abelson mentioned. “We think a canine sibling would be wonderful for him.”

Considering Buckley’s remarkable spirit and charm, it’s hoped that his forever family will be found soon, giving him the happy ending he truly deserves.
