At just five years old, Faa Mai, a young elephant at the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand, has proven that size is no barrier to showcasing rhythmic gymnastics talent.

Video footage captures the playful pachyderm twirling the blue hose around her trunk, tossing it into the air, and looping it back with precision and flair.

The three-minute video highlights Faa Mai’s energetic spirit and curious nature. At one point, another elephant from the herd approaches to observe her playful antics, and the two share a touching embrace, adding to the charm of the moment.

Mr. Pooh, a staff member at the nature park, explained the unexpected origin of Faa Mai’s “routine.”

“It was a complete coincidence when she found what we jokingly called a ‘hula hoop,’” he said. “In reality, it was a water hose that the staff had purchased to draw water from the river.”

Driven by curiosity, Faa Mai quickly made the hose her toy, delighting both her caretakers and visitors. “It felt like watching a child discover a new favorite toy,” Mr. Pooh shared. “We were all so happy and made sure to capture the moment on camera.”

Faa Mai’s performance is a testament to the intelligence and playfulness of elephants, offering a glimpse into the joy and wonder of these gentle giants.
